Autumn is Near

Yes, it is nearing autumn. The air was crisp and chilly today, which was a delight. I turned off the air conditioning and opened the windows and the fresh scent is wonderful.

This is my first entry; I have never had a blog before. Thank you, Lauralee, for walking me through it! It's a little hard to be creative at this point, for the following reasons.

I wanted to name my blog Autumnal, but it was "not available." Why would I want that title? I love autumn. I'm in the autumn of my life. It's 8:15 p.m. at the library, and they close by 8:30. Time is running out . . .

Lauralee arrived Monday morning at 5 a.m. She slept in her car until she rang our doorbell at 7, when nature called urgently! Yesterday she and I went to the Cities (Quad Cities for non-natives), (Moline, Rock Island, Davenport, & Bettendorf for non-natives even further away!) We saw the wonderful movie about Jane Austen, Becoming Jane.

Today we got her international passport photo in Sterling, IL, and shopped for clothes for Germany. She got 8 or 9 items, and when she got a gorgeous red cable-knit long sleeved sweater for $1, she REALLY lowered the already low average cost per item.

So, tired and thirsty, we "scoured" the main drag of Sterling for a coffee shop! We actually found one, where we split a Turkey Panini and had great drinks. We'll be going back there!

Anyway, since it's nearly autumn, it's nearly time to get out of here. So thanks for reading, and bye for now.
